GNU Wget is a utility for noninteractive download of files from the Web. It supports HTTP and FTP protocols, as well as retrieval through HTTP proxies. It can follow HTML links, download many pages, and convert the links for local viewing. It can also mirror FTP hierarchies or only those files that have changed. Wget has been designed for robustness over slow network connections; if a download fails due to a network problem, it will keep retrying until the whole file has been retrieved.

Release Notes: Non-fatal GNU TLS alerts during handshake no longer lead to failures. New "--https-only" and "--method" options were added. Shorthand URLs in an input file are now supported. Support was added for Perfect-Forward Secrecy in "--secure-protocol". Various bugs were fixed.

Release Notes: Adds support for content-on-error. Adds support for WARC files. Fixes a memory leak problem in the GNU TLS backend. Autoreconf works again for distributed tarballs. Prints some diagnostic messages to stderr, not to stdout. Reports stdout close errors. Accepts the --report-speed option. Enables client certificates when GNU TLS is used. Adds support for TLS Server Name Indication. Accepts the arguments --accept-reject and --reject-regex. The GNU TLS backend correctly honors the timeout value. Adds support for RFC 2617 Digest Access Authentication.

Release Notes: Support was added for HTTP/1.1. Persistent connections are used with proxies which support them. The GNU TLS backend now works again and has been made default vs. OpenSSL. Now "--timestamping" and "--continue" work well together. By default, wget now uses the original URL to get the local filename on server redirects, to address the security vulnerability reported as CVE-2010-2252. Portability issues were fixed. Several other minor enhancements and bugfixes were made.

Release Notes: Better versioning info, support for parsing CSS content, support for internationalized URIs (IRIs) and non-ASCII domain names, password-prompting, and more.

Release Notes: This is a bugfix release, including fixes for a regression involving the combination of -O and -nc and a couple of opportunities for Wget to crash.

an FTP site (I was using wget-1.9), I got this:

downloading is about 380 MB not 4.4 GB !

Patch for better handling of '303 See Other'
A patch (http://membled.com/work/patches/wget/) to allow wget to follow 303 See Other redirects (and at least print the destination URL when it does not).
