WebDec is a command-line tool that extracts the JPEG image files from Webshots wbz, wbp, and wbc files. It was developed to enable Linux/Unix users to extract the images available on the Webshots site.

    Release Notes: The tool now continues when encountering unknown encrypted headers. If meta extraction fails, it now defaults to naming files by input_file_name_num.jpg. APP1 following SOI is now processed correctly. The JPEG decoder now extracts the JPEG image resolution after the SOF marker. JPEG decoder resolution is now stored in meta data files. Detection of wide screen resolution images and a new wide screen meta file value are supported. The JPEG decoder now correctly skips reset markers.

      Release Notes: A rare segfault in the meta information parsing code has been fixed.

        Release Notes: Several rare segmentation faults have been fixed.

          Release Notes: This release fixed a big where slashes in image titles caused problems with file names (they are now converted to "."). A problem with multi-part (WBP) meta-extraction failing when the Webshots number was given as the title was fixed, as was an occasional segfault in the parsing algorithm.

            Release Notes: WebDec now uses the WebShots image titles as the file names for the extracted JPEGs by default. Some minor bugfixes were also made.
