Release Notes: This release has better OS defaults: it uses <video> VGA and <sound> AC97, if supported. There are several enhancements to virt-install. A new --watchdog option configures a virtual watchdog dev. A new --soundhw option provides more flexible sound configuration and deprecates --sound, though backwards compatibility is maintained. A new --security option configures the VM security driver. A new --description option sets a human-readable description.

Release Notes: virt-install has a new --autostart option for setting the domain autostart flag. It allows specifying --host-device with lsusb and lspci format (0x1234:0x5678 for USB, etc.) virtinst has a new 'Interface' module for building the libvirt interface.

Release Notes: When probing for OS distribution type, the tool now tests for the existence of files rather than fetching the entire file. RFC-compliant NFS URIs are accepted and converted where needed. When probing for Red Hat distribution variants, the "treeinfo" file is sought to determine initrd/kernel locations. User friendly errors are shown instead of stack traces, and bogus libvirt error messages are hidden from the console. A --noreboot flag was added to virt-install to prevent the automatic reboot at the end of install. The libvirt capabilities XML is used to determine the guest types supported by a hypervisor. A --force option was added to prevent any interactive prompting.

Release Notes: This release fixes a couple of minor bugs. XML attributes are correctly escaped in the XML. Virtual CPUs can be pinned to physical CPUs at installation time. Windows guests will be automatically configured to use localtime. Input validation was improved.

Release Notes: This release introduces the virt-image tool, which provides the ability to create guests based on a pre-define image. The image provides metadata describing the required host virtualization capabilities, the recommend resource allocations, and one or more pre-installed disk templates. All new fully virtualized guests now get a USB tablet device configured, providing an easier to use pointer. Further improvements are made to input validation to catch user errors earlier. Use of the 'xm console' and 'vncviewer' external programs has been replaced with 'virsh console' and 'virt-viewer'.

Release Notes: This release adds support for installing QEMU and KVM virtual machines. The code for fetching OS install images has been refactored to support non-Fedora operating systems and allow fetching of ISO images over the network for fully-virtualized guests.

Release Notes: This release included a major re-factoring to make use of the libvirt inactive domain management APIs when provisioning guests. It also tries to clean up many of the Xen-specific bits to facilitate future use with the QEMU backend of libvirt. From a usability point of view, it also now displays progress information when downloading the kernel and initrd and when creating the filesystem images.
