Virtual Collaboratory

Virtual Collaboratory is a Web-based collaboration application that features a directed discussion forum based on Mailman providing for threaded short and long term discussions. It includes a calendaring function, integration with the Elluminate meeting software, document exchange, version control, a research resource center, custom categorizations, FAQs, and the ability to search for users with similar interests.

    Release Notes: This release requires Zope 2.9.6, Plone 2.5, and a current OpenPlans instance. Users installing from .deb will receive a full instance, including all dependencies in their /opt/vic directory. This release adds resources and document exchange, group calendaring, mailing lists, and blog integration, which allows documents and resources to be converted to blog postings in any software that supports the metaweblog API.

      Release Notes: Several bugfixes as well as the removal of the "security band-aid" in Plone. Basically, this was a set of external methods that were used to make Plone's security model closer to that of the rest of the app. It was removed because users wanted a more Plone-like model.

        Release Notes: An issue where single quotes in the headers of an email were causing the archiver to fail was fixed. The installation process was improved, reducing 17 steps to 6. The Plone customization was moved from the ZODB into the three separate products.

          Release Notes: Plone was refactored into three separate products. Elluminate integration was improved. I18N support was added via Py-MYCMS's traslate functionality. Smartarchiver was refactored as a py-mycms system. Installation was made easier through Install Constants. Front page Alerts were added. The BlogPoster blog management system was added. Specially patched versions of Zope and Plone are no longer required, since authentication is now done through the PyMyCMSUserFolder. Virus checking (with pyclamav) is now supported if pyclamav is installed.
