Release Notes: Support was added for FAT, NTFS, and ext2 undelete. Support was added for recovering deleted exFAT and ext4, and more.
Release Notes: Both utilities are faster than previous versions. TestDisk 6.11 can undelete files from NTFS partition and recover deleted exFAT. Over 50 file types have been added to PhotoRec.
Release Notes: This release can undelete files and directories for FAT filesystems, undelete files for ext2 filesystems, and copy files from ext2/ext3 partitions. PhotoRec can load and save FileOpts settings to remember which file types to recover. For JPEG files, it extracts the time/date from the EXIF header and sets the file time. It's now easier to sort the recovered JPEG. PhotoRec can now identify and recover 38 additional file formats.
Release Notes: The EFI GUID Partition Table (MacBook, MacPro, etc.) is now supported. LUKS encrypted partitions and Mac HFSX partitions can be recovered. Unicode filenames are supported. Lost files from ext2/ext3 unallocated space can be recovered (this was already possible for FAT and NTFS).
Release Notes: Both utilities now automatically detect the partition table type, which is useful for people working with disk or partition images. TestDisk and PhotoRec can now be run under GNU screen. HFS partition detection has been improved to avoid false positives. TestDisk now records the potential NTFS partition location from the MFT location while rebuilding the NTFS boot sector. A few bugs were fixed in PhotoRec 6.8. .dta and .spss file format support was added and .7z, .cab, .rar, and .tar recovery was improved. Recovery of fragmented JPEG by brute-force was improved.
Release Notes: Both utilities are faster than previous versions: a better disk caching method is used in PhotoRec, and a better way to handle the sector scanning under TestDisk. TestDisk handles partitions created under Microsoft Vista. PhotoRec uses less CPU, and adds support for more than 10 new file formats.
Release Notes: The encase expert witness compression format is now supported, so computer forensic experts can use TestDisk and PhotoRec more easily. Hard disks are now being reported again under Windows Vista.
Release Notes: A screen has been added to control the log file creation. It's now possible from TestDisk file listing to copy files from an NTFS partition to a selected directory. NTFS MFT can also be repaired in more cases. A compilation problem has been fixed with old versions of libntfs. New file formats have been added for Photorec. File size detection for .bmp, .pdf, .gif, and Office documents has been improved. An endless loop bug and a memory leak have been fixed. The I/O cache engine now caches read failure, which will speedup some recovery.
Release Notes: Support for ReiserFS 4 has been added. PhotoRec detects new file formats and has better recovery of JPEG, text/HTML, zip, etc.
Release Notes: TestDisk, a tool to check and undelete partitions, was added. A small user interface modification was done. A fix for IA64 was made. Rebuilding the FAT boot sector was fixed. Photorec, a tool to recover lost pictures and files, was added. Support was added for ISO media, MPEG4 file format, Quicken file, OpenDocument file format, StarOffice file format, Encapsulated PostScript and PostScript file format, and GIF and Gzip file detection. Support for MP3, Ogg, and MOV file detection was updated. Session support was added.
