readwriteconfig

Readwriteconfig is a small utility to manipulate text files of the "VARIABLE=value" form. Such files are used for configuration data on Linux distributions like Redhat/Fedora. The utility is useful for embedded devices or CGI scripts where a small amount of configuration or context data is required. It's written in plain C; the code has been tested on gcc under Linux only, but may compile on other *nix platforms.

Well, there's a bunch of others already -- usually "trivial" software gets implemented (and sometimes published) trivially but then starts to handle more complex cases and errors... ending up in something like fillup. :-)

There are simpler ones indeed, I've proposed keywords since was looking for such a library not to write myself another day.

Thanks for the tip, I had not seen fillup - it looks good but but doesnt match the simple character of readwriteconfig.

Did you see fillup (SUSE, GPL) or any of quite a few "config library" search matches here on freshmeat? Might be worth to co-develop any of them, if still needed.
