qmail-smtpd-auth is a patch for qmail that enables it to support SMTP AUTH protocol with the following auth types: LOGIN, PLAIN and CRAM-MD5. It's based on a previous patch by Mr.Brisby that implemented LOGIN type. This version is enhanced and allows easy adding of new auth methods.

    Release Notes: The AUTH PLAIN 334 response was not RFC compliant, and has now been fixed. The TCPREMOTEINFO environment variable is now set to the authenticated username. It was previously only set locally to qmail-smtpd.

        Release Notes: This is a security fix - if your checkpassword crashed, an attacker could get the relay permission. This should now be fixed.

          Release Notes: The error message which is printed when problems with starting checkpassword occur was changed. The PLAIN auth type is now working. Netscape workarounds are no longer necessary. Users of this patch are encouraged to upgrade.

            Release Notes: This release includes an important cram-md5 fix. It should now work perfectly.
