Qingy Is Not Getty

qingy is a replacement for getty. It uses DirectFB to provide a fast, nice GUI without the overhead of the X Windows System. It allows the user to log in and start the session of his choice (text console, GNOME, KDE, wmaker, etc.).

      Release Notes: A change in stdin management that interfered with DBus was reverted.

        Release Notes: A bug with searching for X sessions outside /etc/X11/Sessions when the detected session path is a full path was fixed. A bug that set focus to both session and username (or password) fields was fixed. Text mode is now reverted to in the event of errors when parsing settings files. A password is no longer required for the autologin feature. Successful login times were reduced. A feature for checking the current run level was added to prevent the GUI from being shown or a session starting during a system shutdown or restart. Improvements were made in GUI message customization.

          Release Notes: '-br' has been added to the default X args. This release no longer tries to create /etc/X11/Sessions if it was not found.

            Release Notes: qingy was detached from its controlling tty when starting sessions. qingy no longer tries to kill its GUI as it should not hang any more. A bug that caused shells other than zsh to be invoked with a double "-" was fixed. Proper escaping was added for session names, and quoting around them was removed. Support was added for selecting whether to start the X server in the same tty in which qingy is running (default for qingy), or in an unused one (default for startx).
