p7zip is a port of 7za.exe for Unix, Mac OS X, and BeOS. 7za.exe is the command line version of 7-zip (7zip), a file archiver with a high compression ratio.

    Release Notes: 7za created bad archives when there were many executable files and the filter BCJ2 was used. This has been fixed. 7-Zip now supports the LZMA2 compression method, can update solid archives, and supports XZ archives.

      Release Notes: This release supports LZMA compression for .ZIP archives. It can unpack UDF, XAR, and DMG/HFS archives. It now uses the BCJ/BCJ2 filters for executables.

        Release Notes: A minor improvement was made in ZIP compression. Support was improved for AIX, HP-UX, and kFreeBSD.

          Release Notes: Versions 4.48 through 4.51 could create .ZIP archives with broken files. Support was added for Linux on IBM z/Series Mainframes with s390x CPUs.
