    Release Notes: New features include 4 speaker support for Yamaha DSXG (YMF744/YMF754), 4 speaker support for ForteMedia FM801-AS and FM801-AU soundcards, CMedia 8738-6ch chipset support, and beta support for Hoontech DSP24 and Terratec EWX24/96 (Envy24 chipset). The Maestro2 drivers were updated with full duplex support. OSS driver options can now be configured via soundconf.

      Release Notes: This release is a core architecture rewrite. OSS now runs better and with lower memory requirements. Speed bugs have been fixed for the Intel810 with AD1885 AC97 codec. SoundBlaster PCI128 and CMedia 8738 now support dual DAC outputs. Neomagic NM2200 clicking has been fixed. This version has Solaris x86 SMP mode bug fixes for PCI devices, HPUX Dynamically Loadable Kernel Module support, and automatic boot setup for BSD and Solaris. Envy24 audio glitching has been fixed.

        Release Notes: Completely rewritten Maestro2 drivers (available for all x86-based OSes), fixes for the stereo playback problems, recording for 8- and 16-bit mono mode, CMedia CM8738 bugfixes, Intel 810, CS4281, CS4280, FM801, and AC97 bugfixes, National Semiconductor Geode/SC1200 bugfixes, Conexant Riptide volume control bugfixes, HPUX 11 dynamically loadable kernel driver support, and new 64-bit Solaris Sparc drivers for SoundBlaster PCI ES1370/ES1371/ES1373, Yamaha DSXG YMF724/YMF744/YMF754, ForteMedia FM801, Cirrus Logic CS4280/CS4281/CS4624/CS4630, and Avance Logic ALS300/300+.

          Release Notes: This version supports Linux, Solaris, FreeBSD, OpenBSD, NetBSD, BSD/OS, UnixWare and OpenServer. 3D support for the AC97 devices like Sigmatel and Cirrus which support stereo optimization. Automatic device support for AlphaLinux has been added. There are Solaris 'devaudio' API emulation fixes. Multiopen device support for Solaris has been improved allowing /dev/dsp to be opened by multiple audio applications for recording and playback at the same time. Intelligent device handling for full duplex capable devices has been added. OSS now opens /dev/dsp1 by default when audio is played, leaving /dev/dsp0 free for recording. ESS Maestro3/Allegro drivers for Linux, FreeBSD, Solaris x86, OpenBSD, NetBSD, BSD/OS, UnixWare and SCO OSR5 has been added. 4front software based sample rate convertors (included with Virtual Mixer and IMUX drivers) has been added. A beta driver for LynxONE Pro audio sound cards for Linux and FreeBSD have been added. An X Window System based GUI configurator and installer is now available for FreeBSD (GTK required).

            Release Notes: The new universal distribution of OSS for Linux (x86 and Alpha) will now work on any Linux 2.2.x and Linux 2.4.x with either SMP or UP support. Now included is 4Front's Sample Rate Convertors, which are included with Virtual Mixer and Input MUX. These SRCs provide near hardware quality sample rate conversion in software. A BETA driver is now available for LynxStudio Pro audio soundcards for Linux, FreeBSD and Solaris x86. VIA97 drivers now support mmap() required for Quake. Yamaha DSXG and SBLive support for SCO OSR5 and UnixWare is available.

              Release Notes: Multi-open support for Solaris x86 and SPARC, (ability to open the same device for record and playback), an improved devaudio emulation, RealAudio for Sparc works ok, fixes for IRQ sharing under OpenBSD and NetBSD, SoundBlaster Live! support in HPUX 11.0, updates to MIDIMan Delta drivers, and fixes for SMP support on Linux.

                Release Notes: This release is available for Linux 2.2.18/2.4.0-test12, FreeBSD 4.2, Solaris x86, Solaris Sparc, OpenBSD 2.8, NetBSD 1.5, and BSD/OS 4.2. It adds an Input Multiplexer device (allowing you to record up to 5 different formats from a single input), updated drivers for the Yamaha DSXG, Trident 4DWaveDX/NX, CS4281, CS4280, ALS300/300+, ALS4000, CMI8738, FM801, ESS Solo-1, and MIDIMan Delta soundcards, a GTK+-based GUI for installation and configuration, a GTK+-based mixer with Peak Level meter support for MIDIMan Delta soundcards, and updated SBLive drivers with S/PDIF output and input. Yamaha DSXG and Trident now support multi-open and can play up to 8 simultaneous audio apps. All full duplex PCI cards now support "shadow audio" for playing and recording using different apps. The Solaris x86 version now supports Yamaha DSXG- and CS4281-based soundcards. The OpenBSD and NetBSD versions now support Yamaha DSXG, CS4281, Aureal Vortex, and RME Digi32/Digi96 devices.

                  Release Notes: Full support for the MIDIMan Audiophile fully supported (S/PDIF, analog I/O, MIDI I/O), updates to MIDMan Delta 1010/66/44/2496 drivers, virtual Delta1010 support for Delta66/Delta44/2496, ability to use all 10 output channels even the actual device only has 2 or 4 or 6 physical outputs (the additional devices are "virtual" ones which are only sent to the digital mixer), Conexant Riptide support for Linux 2.4.0-test9 kernels, S/PDIF in/out support for Yamaha DSXG (YMF744/YMF754), and fixes for an SB16/AWE64 8-bit recording bug, Maestr3/Allegro driver bugs on machines with greater than 128M of RAM, and Maestro2 16-bit stereo playback.
