OpenTop is a cross-platform, high-performance C++ class library that extends the standard C++ library to provide features similar to (and modelled on) core Java facilities such as resource management, networking, I/O, multi-threading and support for the full Unicode character range. OpenTop also contains a supplementary C++ XML Toolkit which features a SAX-based validating XML parser.

    Release Notes: This release supports two new compilers: MS Visual C++ v7 (.NET) and Compaq C++ for Tru64. Compaq/ HP Tru64 UNIX is a supported platform. There are networking improvements including Java-like classes for UDP datagram and multicast sockets, support for FTP stream mode restart, improved tracing, and socket handle management. Several new sample applications are included.

      Release Notes: This release extends the list of fully-supported platforms to include both FreeBSD and Mac OS X. It also includes a number of minor bugfixes and interface enhancements, but the most exciting news is that ElCel Technology have also released the full source code for xmlvalid, their well-known XML Validator, under the GPL as part of this releaase.
