Projects / NewsDeliver

NewsDeliver is a simple but customizable NNTP to email gateway written in Python. When invoked (usually by a cron job), it checks for new messages on newsgroups that the user has marked as "watched" and emails a copy of any new messages to the user.

Release Notes: This release adds two features that were requested following the 1.2.0 release. The first new feature is support for NNTP servers that require the user to login with a username and password; the NNTPUSER and NNTPPASS variables in ~/.newsdeliverrc can now be used to specify the appropriate login information. The second new feature is that the notification emails sent for binary posts now include the Message-ID of the binary in the notification body; this allows the user to find the article quickly in their regular newsreader.
