mp3rename is a command-line utility designed to help keep vast amounts of MP3s easy to read and access by keeping nasty characters and odd formatting conventions away. It has many options, including organization by artist (in directories) and recursive renaming.

    Release Notes: A fairly large bug that caused the program to break when using certain meta-characters was fixed. A few minor bugs were also removed.

      Release Notes: Much of the code was rewritten from scratch. Customizable format strings are now used to rename files, giving the user complete control over the format without as many messy options as the previous versions.

        Release Notes: Long options, id3 tag editing, renaming by id3 tag, removing track numbers, extension casing, more intelligent track name/number parsing, and many bugfixes were added.

          Release Notes: New -A and -R options for string replacement, a -D option to ignore the rc file, ID3 tag support with the -I option, a few cleanups, and an album parser.
