mod_auth_imap is an Apache module to provide authentication against an IMAP mail server. The httpd.conf or .htaccess file can specify server name and port of the desired IMAP server. It is also compatible with stunnel for IMAP over SSL.

    Release Notes: The code dealing with the Apache module API was modified for Apache 2.0. A check for "A001 OK Completed" was added for Cyrus IMAP servers.

      Release Notes: This release brings mod_auth_imap out of the alpha/beta stages. The IMAP code has been changed to properly support RFC 2060. Support has been added for servers such as UW-IMAP that force a "CAPABILITY" command, and a directive has been added to enable enhanced logging in Apache's ErrorLog. The code has been cleaned and is now better commented.

        Latest a2 module and dovecot
        Latest module for Apache2 doesnt work with dovecot because it sends different string response than the module is waiting.

        Ive sent small patch to the authors but it seems that they havent yet answered so if anyone is trying to run this module with dovecot, the patch to aply can be downloaded from
