KFontinst is a KDE-based TrueType and Type1 font installer. Its features include: the abilty to preview fonts before installing, generation of a Ghostscript Fontmap file (including aliases for Qt-generated Postscript), StarOffice configuration, and generation of AFM files for use with StarOffice & AbiWord.

          Release Notes: This release has been converted to a KControl module, has support for Speedo and Bitmap fonts, now manages a complete X11 fonts folder, and is almost a complete rewrite.

            Release Notes: A fix for a bug where the "Configure System" menu entry was always disabled, extra support for Type1 fonts where t1lib has problems (such as those supplied with Adaobe acrobat), fixes for multiple installing of programs in the other/ directory and a bug where the user was allowed to select (and subsequently install) fonts which could not be loaded correctly, a new ability to enter a custom preview string, and new Mandrake (i586 & i686) RPMs.
