jinit is a replacement for the traditional Linux init (sysvinit) that can handle dependencies starting and stopping services. It is based on the need(8) scheme for inits by Richard Gooch (also implemented in simpleinit) and is written in C++.

    Release Notes: More workarounds for kernel 2.4, miscellaneous bootscript fixes, and shutdown(8) is now included.

      Release Notes: This release adds workarounds for lower SysV IPC limits on 2.4.0-test kernels and cleans up the example bootscripts. Now jinit will execute a helper binary to shutdown the system so jinit upgrades do not result in a fsck.
