iRODS (integrated Rule-Oriented Data Systems) is a second generation data grid system providing a unified view and seamless access to distributed digital objects across a wide area network. It is an adaptive middleware data grid that operates by means of user-supplied rules and a Rule Engine which interprets the rules to decide how the system is to respond to various requests and conditions.

    Release Notes: This release adds ticket-based access, preliminary integration with NetCDF, doxygen documentation of the iRODS C API functions, support for FreeBSD, assorted minor improvements, security fixes, and minor enhancements.

      Release Notes: The iRODS Rule Engine has been completely re-written. Acceleration under Windows. Improved debugging of rules. Other enhancements and bugfixes.

        Release Notes: A very large number of extensions and bugfixes were added.

          Release Notes: This release adds support for MySQL and Kerberos. It has many new system-level rules. It has better support for using and writing micro-services. It has support for pipes and syslog. There are many other enhancements.

            Release Notes: Many enhancements have been made. These include the additions of Zone Federation and Master/Slave iCat with Oracle. There is also an initial release of the SRB to iRODS Migration tool. iRods FUSE support is enhanced. A "dataMode" metadata item was added so that the file mode of files uploaded to iRods and downloaded from iRods can be preserved. Many other enhancements and bugfixes have been made.

            This project has been voted down twice but nobody has commented on what they don't like. If someone could put down a few thoughts on system, I'd be greatful.
