Helene is a Web-based text editor with syntax highlighting. It is meant to replace the use of textarea elements in Web-based IDEs. It is written in JavaScript code that is almost entirely DOM-based, so any modern graphical browser should be able to run the code.

    Release Notes: Helene now has unlimited undo and redo. Multiline pasting works properly. Support was added for the Smarty template language. A stack overflow bug was fixed in the highlighter, among several other bugs.

      Release Notes: This release implements tab support and configurable auto-indentation. Some layout bugs for Mozilla compatibility were fixed. The loading subroutine was fixed and should work regardless of the content now; a small HOWTO is added to illustrate that.

        Release Notes: This release adds configurable key bindings. The demo includes a select set of Joe (Joe's Own Editor) keybindings. The font size can now be adjusted without compromising the layout. A Javascript error when clicking on whitespace was fixed. The key handling routine was completely rewritten to be more Mozilla-friendly.

          Release Notes: This release is Mozilla compatible, it works even better than in Internet Explorer. Loading and saving have been added, as well as a demo page on how to use it. Handling of mouse and keyboard events is greatly improved. You can select your own preferred font size in the editor.css file.

            Release Notes: This first release supports syntax highlighting and editing of the text. It doesn't have a save or load method yet. Selections and copy/paste are also not yet implemented.
