findmac is a utility written in Perl that helps administrators find out exactly which switch and which port a host is patched into. Only CISCO equipment with CDP enabled is currently supported. It is a very useful tool for administrators of large scale CISCO networks.

    Release Notes: This version includes a bugfix to allow queries on the WS-C3500 switch which has a different sh MAC address table address format from older CISCO switch models.

      Release Notes: This version features a new aggressive mode where it will search for the MAC address even if it is not on the main switch. A choice of displaying the switch name instead of IP address has also been added.

        Release Notes: This release fixed a bug that prevented MAC addresses from b eing found on cascaded IOS switches. The IP of the device is now shown along with the login error message. It also added d ebug and quiet mode options, and a PHP interface.
