Erlang is a small concurrent functional programming language developed by Ericsson. It is being used by Ericsson as a systems programming language for large concurrent fault-tolerant distributed systems.

    Release Notes: The type analysis tool Dialyzer has been optimized to be generally faster. It will also now run in parallel on SMP machines. The SSL application now has experimental support for the TLS 1.1 and 1.2 standards. Various smaller optimizations have been made to the Erlang VM. The Erlang/OTP test runner ts has been extended to allow cross compilation of test suites. Compiler warnings now cover illegal sizes for segments and literal tuple funs. SHA224, SHA256, SHA384, and SHA512 have been added to the crypto module. Assorted bugfixes have been made.

      Release Notes: This release added scheduler_wall_time statistics and an LDAP client application. The ssh implementation was changed to use the public_key application for all public key handling. Console buffers are now flushed on exit. DTrace support was incorporated.

        Release Notes: Line number and filename information are now included in exception backtraces. The driver interface has been changed to enable 64-bit aware drivers. This release adds support for 64-bit Windows. CommonTest hooks are now in a final supported version. There is a new GUI tool in the observer application which integrates pman, etop, appmon, and tv into one tool. The Erlang distribution can now be run over the new SSL implementation.

          Release Notes: Numerous bugfixes. The crypto was changed to be dynamically linked against OpenSSL. Improved error handling. Minor compatibility fixes. Documentation cleanup.

            Release Notes: The documentation can now be built from the source using xsltproc and Apache FOP. Native Implemented Functions (NIFs) are greatly enhanced. The garbage collection of binaries is further enhanced. Support for user-defined prompt in the shell. Enhanced cross compilation support.
