Projects / epstool

epstool is a utility that can create and extract preview images in EPS (Encapsulated PostScript) files, fix bounding boxes, and convert them to bitmaps. It can add EPSI, DOS EPS, or Mac PICT previews, extract PostScript from DOS EPS files, use Ghostscript to create preview bitmaps, and create TIFF, WMF, PICT, or Interchange previews from part of a bitmap created by Ghostscript.

Release Notes: This release adds the "--dump" option to display a summary of DSC information, the "--ignore-information" option to ignore DSC parser information messages, and the "--test-eps" option for performing a partial test of EPS compliance. The consistency of "--ignore-warnings" and "--ignore-errors" was improved. Build support for Cygwin and non-GNU make was added.

Release Notes: A portability issue for Unix-like systems without shared libraries was fixed. The uncommon 8-bit/pixel grey Interchange preview is now supported instead of restricting to 1-bit/pixel. Page size is now explicitly set when calculating the bounding box to avoid erroneous results when the user changes the default page size.
