Projects / CDStatus

cdstatus checks for drive errors, outputs disc information (such as type and table of contents), and is capable of ripping full CDs, using configurable track ranges and retry counts. It handles cddb lookups and makes use of per-user .cdstatus configuration files. It usually produces identical output to cdparanoia with much faster execution. It features direct-to-lame MP3 encoding and Ogg Vorbis encoding, as well as twolame support.

Release Notes: The primary change is the addition of support for Ogg Vorbis and twolame encoding support. This release also allows output to a null encoder (which throws away the data read from the CD, but still reads it), intended purely for testing purposes. All appropriate CDDB meta information is passed to the encoder for appropriate tagging (e.g. ID3 tags). This release has had relatively little testing so far, but seems to work in initial tests.
