Package : yarssr
Vulnerability : missing input sanitising
Problem type : remote
Debian-specific: no
CVE Id(s) : CVE-2007-5837

Duncan Gilmore discovered that yarssr, an RSS aggregator and reader,
performs insufficient input sanitising, which could result in the
execution of arbitrary shell commands if a malformed feed is read.

For the stable distribution (etch), this problem has been fixed in
version 0.2.2-1etch1.

Due to a technical limitation of the archive management scripts, the
fix for the old stable distribution (sarge) needs to be postponed
by a few days.

We recommend that you upgrade your yarssr packages.

Upgrade instructions
- --------------------

wget url
will fetch the file for you
dpkg -i file.deb
       will install the referenced file.

If you are using the apt-get package manager, use the line for
sources.list as given below:

apt-get update
       will update the internal database
apt-get upgrade
       will install corrected packages

You may use an automated update by adding the resources from the
footer to the proper configuration.
