Siren Renamer is a tool that renames, moves, and copies files using an expression. A lot of information associated with a file can be used, including name, extension, dates, and selection number. Other information is extracted from files according to their type: audio, video, image (standard and raw), EXIF, IPTC, Office document, PDF, ePub, HTML, and many others. Many different operations can be performed on character strings, complete directory trees can be processed, and images can be viewed. For example, to change a file name to uppercase with the mp3 extension, the expression can be '%ub.mp3'.

Release Notes: This release adds bug corrections and a few modifications.

Download Website 17 Apr 22:46 OVAL Interpreter

The OVAL Interpreter is a freely available reference implementation that demonstrates the evaluation of OVAL definitions. Based on a set of definitions, the interpreter collects system information, evaluates it, and generates a detailed OVAL results file.

Release Notes: This minor update adds support for the use of the ipv6_address datatype within tests and evaluation, improves how the linux-def:rpminfo_test’s signature_keyid entity is collected, and modifies the collection format of the win-def:file_test’s language entity so that it may be specified by the OS. A number of bugs have been fixed, as well.

httping is a "ping"-like tool for HTTP requests. Give it a URL and it will show how long it takes to connect, send a request, and retrieve the reply (only the headers). It can be used for monitoring or statistical purposes (measuring latency).

Release Notes: This is mostly a bugfix release (segfaults, FreeBSD build fixes).

Download Website 17 Apr 22:45 samhain 3.0.11

samhain is a daemon that can check file integrity, search the file tree for SUID files, and detect kernel module rootkits (Linux only). It can be used either standalone or as a client/server system for centralized monitoring, with strong (192-bit AES) encryption for client/server connections and the option to store databases and configuration files on the server. For tamper resistance, it supports signed database/configuration files and signed reports/audit logs. It has been tested on Linux, FreeBSD, Solaris, AIX, HP-UX, and Unixware.

Release Notes: Log rotation can be handled more gracefully now. An option to ignore modifications of transient files during their lifetime has been added, and it is possible now to build a Debian client package with a preset password. A problem with large groups has been fixed, as well as reconnecting to a temporarily unavailable Oracle database.

Download Website 17 Apr 17:42 syslog-ng 3.3.9

syslog-ng is a syslogd replacement for a wide variety of UNIX systems that supports IPv6 and is capable of transferring log messages reliably using TCP and SSL and filtering the content of messages using regular expressions. Both RFC3164 and RFC5424 style messages are handled, but more esoteric formats like BSD process accounting logs are supported too. Apart from regular text files, it supports storing messages into SQL and MongoDB databases, and forward messages to local processes via pipes or UNIX domain sockets. This makes syslog-ng ideal as an integration platform. syslog-ng supports extracting structured information from the traditionally text based syslog via csv-parser(), db-parser(), and patterndb. Tag based classification, rewriting messages, and outputting messages in JSON is also possible. This makes syslog-ng ideal for preprocessing events for further analysis, be that home-grown scripts or SIEM systems. syslog-ng scales well on today's multi processor and multi-core systems: reaching 1,000,000 messages per second is a reality for the simplest use cases.

Release Notes: This is a bugfix only maintenance release of the 3.3 series, correcting a crash which happened when a rewrite rule using set() or subst() was used in multiple log paths.

No download No website 17 Apr 17:42 JunkieTheSniffer 2.4.2

Junkie is a real-time packet sniffer and analyzer. It is modular enough to accomplish many different tasks. It can be a helpful companion to the modern network administrator and analyst. Compared to previously available tools, junkie lies in between tcpdump and wireshark. Unlike tcpdump, its purpose is to parse protocols of any depth; unlike wireshark, though, it is designed to analyze traffic in real-time and so cannot parse traffic as exhaustively as wireshark does. In addition, its design encompasses extendability and speed. It has a plug-in system and high-level extension language that eases the development and combination of new functionalities; threaded packet capture and analysis for handling of high bandwidth networks; and a modular architecture to ease the addition of any protocol layer. It is based on libpcap for portability, and well-tested on professional settings.

Release Notes: This release adds many fixes and ameliorations related to parsing TCP despite missing/unordered segments.

Download Website 16 Apr 21:35 aletheia 0.1.3

Aletheia is a browser-like application for sending raw HTTP requests. It is designed for debugging and finding security issues in Web applications. It is possible to apply filters on every request and response which can modify the content, for making Basic Authentication or OAuth requests, for example. Because it is possible to modify every bit of the request, it is easy to exploit Web applications. That means you can set, for example, custom Cookies or User-Agents, or send file uploads to the server. It uses the Apache HTTP core components library to send HTTP requests. This application also helps you understand how the HTTP protocol works.

Release Notes: This release adds syntax highlighting and the ability to click on hyperlinks within the textarea using the rsyntaxtextarea library. It adds an option to insert sample form posts and file upload requests. It adds a request processor, which writes the request to the stdin of a given command and uses the stdout as request. In this way you can use any scripting language to build your request. This release implements a JSON formatter and fixes some bugs.

Download Website 16 Apr 21:26 git-info-bar 1.1.7

git-info-bar is a ksh, bash, gitbash, and Git shell plugin that endeavors to provide a fast and pronounced view of various git attributes when you are under the umbrella of a git repository. Its main feature, the 'info bar' (information bar), displays the following information: current branch (in 'red' if on master); current cksum (in 'red' if there are uncommitted changes, and an 'uncommitted changes' message in the message area); and stash count in the message area if you have stashes. It includes an install script and removal scripts. It is currently only tested in Bash, GitBash and ksh93. It was previously named 'bash-git', but the name has been transitioned to 'git-info-bar', as a long-term goal is cross-shell compatibility using a Perl back-end.

Release Notes: Upgrading to this version is advised for improved functionality. The git shell plugin now works when your repository has just been created and there are no commits. A stateless repository does not have an answer to the "git branch" command, therefore the plugin has been updated to use the shell Git function, __git_ps1, instead, which specifies the pseudo default branch name for new branches. The call is slightly more time consuming (2/100's of a second), but is accurate.

Download Website 16 Apr 20:34 jmx4perl 1.07

Jmx4Perl provides an alternate way of accessing Java JEE Server management interfaces that are based on JMX (Java Management Extensions). It is an agent-based approach where a small Web application deployed on the application server provides HTTP/JSON-based access to JMX MBeans registered within the application server. It is set up from a handful of Perl modules, which can be integrated seamlessly in your own programs. It also includes a Nagios plugin, check_jmx4perl, a jmx4perl command line tool for remote JMX queries and operations, and a readline-based JMX shell j4psh, with context sensitive command completion and syntax highlighting.

Release Notes: This releases fixes a bug in the autocompletion code in j4psh for MBeans containing quotes. The Nagios Plugin check_jmx4perl can now be configured to exclude performance data on a per-check basis. New placeholders for a Nagios check output for including the critical and warning threshold have been added. The agent management tool "jolokia" now works without Internet connections for certain operations.
