pyReScene is a tool that recreates original RARs by backing up the metadata. It is a port of ReScene .NET to Python. It provides a mechanism for backing up and restoring the metadata from "scene" released RAR files. RAR archive volumes are rebuilt using the stored metadata in the SRR file and the files extracted from the RAR archive. pyReScene consists of multiple related tools: pyReScene Auto to create a complete SRR with one simple command, pyReSample to recreate sample files, and pyReScene Usenet to create SRR files on the fly from Usenet postings. Lots of other small scripts for managing SRR and SRS files are available too.

Release Notes: pyReScene now stores OpenSubtitles.org hashes when creating SRR files. A reconstruction bug for RARs with old-style recovery records has been fixed. Support for PyPy makes it run faster, and EXE files for Windows are available.

Netzob provides a semi-automatic inferring process, and includes everything necessary to passively learn the vocabulary of a protocol and actively infer its grammar. The learnt protocol can afterward be simulated. Netzob handles text protocols (like HTTP and IRC), fixed field protocols (like IP and TCP), and variable field protocols (like ASN.1-based formats).

Release Notes: While the previous release introduced a large amount of changes, this one focuses on stability, UI, and model export towards Wireshark and Peach Fuzzer. Thanks to the new plugin mechanism, that was introduced in the previous release, some great features such as Wireshark and Peach exporters are now available as plugins, allowing you to dissect and fuzz proprietary protocols with well-known tools. It also added some new dialogs for configuring the workspace and projects, and to manage imported traces.

Common uses include censorship circumvention, VPN-like setups, anonymous proxies, personal proxies, and others. Options include text-only browsing (to save bandwidth), selective cookie and script removal, simple ad filtering, access restriction by server, encoded target URLs and cookies, configuration by end user, and much more (currently over 70 config options). Javascript and Flash are fully supported. Messages are in 12 languages so far. Can be installed as a CGI script, a mod_perl script, a FastCGI script, or with its own embedded secure HTTP server. Release Notes: This release is fully functional on OS X 10.5 - 10.8. The history/excluded items drawers have been turned into regular views. BackupLoupe now offers to move an item to the trash in case the item to be restored already exists.
