crpcut is the Compartmented Robust Posix C++ Unit Test system. crpcut (pronounced "Crap Cut") runs all test cases in their own process and their own working directory, which makes it perfectly normal to test that asserts do trap, and the test suite continues even in the event of an unexpected SIGSEGV. By using the C++11 features long available in GCC, the tests are extremely easy to write.


Release Notes: This release fixes a minor expression template bug which made the use of class scope static const values (leading to link errors) and improves the performance of test<->test-runner communication.

svnauthcheck checks the syntax of a subversion authorization file and generates Apache-like permission specifications to be used by other tools such as ViewVC. svnauthcheck, in combination with subversion pre- and post-commit hooks, can be used to delegate the administration of a repository authorization to the end users.


Release Notes: This release fixes an error in the generation of Apache httpd permissions when permissions were revoked with the “* = ” statement and fixes a buffer overflow in the management of Apache httpd permission generation from template files. Both bugs could cause a security vulnerability. Old versions should be updated.

GNU grep is based on a fast lazy-state deterministic matcher (about twice as fast as stock Unix egrep) hybridized with a Boyer-Moore-Gosper search for a fixed string that eliminates impossible text from being considered by the full regexp matcher without necessarily having to look at every character. The result is typically many times faster than Unix grep or egrep.


Release Notes: Sparse files are now treated as binary by default. Multi-byte locales with mismatching sizes of lower- and uppercase characters are now handled properly. A fix has been made to again allow the combined use of the "--include" and "--exclude" options.

Fimex is a the File Interpolation, Manipulation, and EXtraction library for gridded geospatial data. It converts between different, extensible data formats (currently netcdf, NcML, grib1/2, metgm, wdb, and felt). It enables you to change the projection and interpolation of scalar and vector grids. It makes it possible to subset the gridded data and to extract only parts of the files. For simple usage, Fimex also comes with the command line program fimex.


Release Notes: This release is able to read netcdf-files with 0-terminated strings. Felt files with different undefined levels per file can now be read. The undefined levels will appear as undefined values. Fimex is now tested to run on Ubuntu Precise, 12.04.

Dar is a shell command that makes backup of a directory tree and files. Its features include splitting archives over several files, DVD, CD, ZIP, or floppies, compression, full or differential backups, strong encryption, proper saving and restoration of hard links, extended attributes, file forks, Door inodes, and sparse files, remote backup using pipes and external commands (such as ssh), and rearrangement of the "slices" of an existing archive. It can run commands between slices, before and after saving some defined files or directories (for a proper database backup, for example), and quickly retrieve individual files from differential and full backups. Several external GUIs exist as alternatives to its CLI interface, like kdar, DarGUI, SaraB, etc.

It can check files against previously-saved sums, like "MD5sum" does. It also has a "demo" mode, to ascertain accurate operation. It is intended to be useful on large files and multicore/multiprocessor/multithreaded environments.

The "Method" text was modified to not link to specific commands. Both the History and Favourites trees now update the GUI when the selection changes. A bug that could misconfigure the GUI's "Port" connection property was fixed along with a bug that made the keyboard focus move when starting connections.
