This suite currently consists of three programs, Postal, Rabid, and BHM. Postal (the mad postman) is a program that will deliver mail as fast as possible via the SMTP protocol to test mail server performance. Rabid (the mad Biff) will eat mail via the POP protocol as fast as possible and measure POP server performance. BHM is the Black Hole Mailer to discard SMTP mail. All messages sent via Postal have MD5 checksums appended, and Rabid will check the MD5 to ensure that the messages are not being corrupted.

Release Notes: LMTP support was added. User-list file parsing was improved. rabid now correctly checks the '.' at the end of the results of the list command. Deprecated GNUTLS library calls were removed. MD5 checking was rewritten and fixed, and Subject, Date, and Message-ID headers were added to the check. There were many minor changes.

Comal-Linux is a Linux distribution derived from Slackware Linux. It is packaged as a live CD, and is intended for desktop users who want to use Slackware Linux without first installing it on their computers. Comal-Linux is built from "pure" Slackware Linux, making it as compatible with the original as possible, including application packages. By choosing lightweight desktop and application software, the distribution can be used on older computers. Comal-Linux is an unofficial Muslim edition of Slackware.


Release Notes: This release is based on Slackware 13.37, with 83 rebuilt applications and 15 builder packages, for a total of 847 packages and 1.9 GB of uncompressed space. IceWM and either Rox or PcManFM can be used as the file manager. xcowsay (with tadzkiroh content), SearchMonkey, Grsynch, Dillo, gnome-paint, mhWaveEdit, Gufw, gnome-disk-utility, and gslapt were added.

DAViCal is a server implementation of the CalDAV protocol for storing calendaring resources (in iCalendar format) on a remote shared server. An increasing number of calendar clients support the maintenance of shared remote calendars through CalDAV including Mozilla Calendar (Sunbird/Lightning), Evolution, Mulberry, Chandler, and various other closed-source products such as Apple's iCal and iPhone. DAViCal supports basic delegation of read/write access among calendar users, multiple users or clients reading and writing the same calendar entries over time, and scheduling of meetings with free/busy time displayed.


Release Notes: Major features in this release include implementations of CalDAV scheduling and Timezone Service Protocol drafts, support for external bindings, importing of VCARD collections, and much more. This is a stable release and further development will be on a new branch.

netwmpager is an enhanced version of the original netwmpager-1.11 program written around 2005 by Timo Hirvonen. It should be compliant with the EWMH (or NetWM) specifications. This version implements virtual desktops split into different viewports, into different desks, or both, while the earlier version only supported desks. As a consequence, netwmpager-2 should work with most window managers; it has been tested especially with compiz, fluxbox, and fvwm. It also has many parametrizable features, and it implements a convenient zoom.

GNU Recutils is a set of tools and libraries to access human-editable text-based databases called recfiles. A recfile contains data structured as a sequence of records. The rec format supports data integrity with the usage of record descriptors (keys, mandatory fields, field types, etc.) as well as the ability of record fields to refer to other records. Despite its simplicity, recfiles can be used to store medium-sized databases. The GNU recutils suite comprises a texinfo manual describing the Rec format, a C library (librec) providing a rich set of functions to access rec files, a set of C utilities that can be used in shell scripts and in the command line to operate on rec files, and an Emacs mode (rec-mode).

Release Notes: This version introduces several user-visible improvements: utilities can now interactively ask for passwords (avoiding security problems), there is support for octal and hexadecimal numbers, new command line options -U (uniq) and -q (quick), etc. The internals of librec and the utilities have been vastly improved, resulting in a much faster operation.
