Download Website 08 Feb 22:25 DROID (Digital Record Object Identificatio...

DROID (Digital Record Object Identification) is a software tool to perform automated batch identification of file formats. It is designed to meet the fundamental requirement of any digital repository to be able to identify the precise format of all stored digital objects, and to link that identification to a central registry of technical information about that format and its dependencies. It uses internal and external signatures to identify and report the specific file format versions of digital files. These signatures are stored in an XML signature file, generated from information recorded in the PRONOM technical registry. New and updated signatures are regularly added to PRONOM, and DROID can be configured to automatically download updated signature files from the PRONOM Web site via Web services.

Release Notes: This release produces a wider range of information and reports, with significant improvements in performance and usability. It can more accurately identify complex file formats like ODF and OOXML.

No download Website 08 Feb 22:22 wgms3d 1.0.0

wgms3d is a full-vectorial electromagnetic waveguide mode solver. It computes the modes of dielectric waveguides at a specified wavelength using a second-order finite-difference method. The waveguide cross section may consist of several adjacent regions of constant refractive index (i.e., step-index profiles). Dielectric interfaces do not have to be aligned with the discretization grid; they may be arbitrarily slanted or curved. The entire waveguide may be curved along the propagation direction. Leakage and curvature losses can be computed using Perfectly Matched Layers as absorbing boundaries.

Release Notes: This release contains completely new code for handling Bézier-type dielectric interfaces. This makes the computation of structures with tightly curved Bézier interfaces much more robust. It also removes the excessive geometry warnings that were output by previous versions of wgms3d.
